Patient Rights and Obligations

NUEVO POLANCO MEDICAL CENTER has adopted the Patients’ Bill of Rights and is committed to respecting each of the principles that comprise it:

  • Receive adequate medical care.
  • Receive dignified and respectful treatment.
  • Obtain sufficient, clear, timely and truthful information.
  • To decide freely about their care.
  • To give or not to give validly informed consent.
  • To be treated with confidentiality.
  • To have facilities to obtain a second opinion.
  • To receive medical attention in case of emergency.
  • To have a clinical record.
  • To be attended when there is dissatisfaction with the received medical care.

Patient Responsabilities

It is essential that our patients are aware of the following guidelines to ensure optimal care.

The patient commits to:

  • To inform the physician, completely and truthfully, about the symptoms and possible causes of your illness.
  • Participate, to the extent possible, in activities to recover your health.
  • To treat with respect the health personnel and assistants involved in your care.
  • To inform the health personnel, your attending physician, the head of the service or the Ethics Committee of any breach of ethical principles during your care.
  • Comply with Medical Centre regulations.
  • Respect and value the indications of your physician, complying with them, or inform him/her about any refusal to the proposed treatment.
  • In case of difficulties in complying with the treatment, to request an alternative.
  • Not to consult another physician without the consent of your treating physician . If you want a second opinion, you should inform him/her first.
  • If the patient wishes to change physician, as a courtesy, he/she should inform his/her attending physician.

Visitors’ Commitment

The visitors at NUEVO POLANCO MEDICAL CENTER should take into consideration and respect the following guidelines to ensure that health care is carried out in optimal conditions.

  • Avoid interfering in the process of patient care.
  • Treat facility personnel with kindness and respect.
  • Comply with Medical Center regulations, including:
    • Respect visiting hours.
    • No smoking.
    • Not to take photographs or videos inside the facilities of NUEVO POLANCO MEDICAL CENTER, in compliance with the provisions of the Civil Responsibility Law for the protection of the right to privacy, honor and self-image.
    • Maintain hand hygiene.
    • Do not bring in floral arrangements, fruit, or balloons.
    • Do not bring in furniture, electrical appliances or any electronic device without authorization.
